A striking and rare matching pair of antique British Secessionist art metal amphora vases, dating from the height of the Arts & Crafts movement circa 1905–1915.
Crafted from heavy brass, these exceptional vases are designed in a classical Neo-Grecian baluster form, accented by dramatic, architectural geometric double handles that exemplify early avant-garde British design. The main bodies feature a richly textured, dark acid-patinated finish designed to replicate excavated antiquities, providing a stunning contrast to the polished golden brass accents. Each vase is encircled by a prominent horizontal frieze featuring a crisp, repeating relief pattern of stylized geometric rosettes.
Stamped "Made in England" to the underside of the bases, this pair beautifully bridges the gap between late Art Nouveau symmetry and the clean geometry of early Art Deco. An exceptional statement pair for any collector of period metalwork or twentieth-century design.
